She completed her two-year post-doctoral internship at a private forensic psychology corporation, where she performed psychological evaluations and provided psychological consultation. She became a licensed psychologist in Louisiana in 2016.
Dr. Allison specializes in the assessment and treatment of individuals who are coping with a variety of medical and physical problems including: chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, or other life-altering disabilities.
Dr. Allison’s education, training, and experience in Biological and Developmental Psychology provide her with unique insight into the multi-faceted nature of chronic disabilities, as she understands the biological correlates and the behavioral and psychological factors associated with chronic disabilities, in addition to how coping with and managing a chronic disability changes throughout the lifespan.
Dr. Allison provides individual and group psychotherapy to support individuals dealing with chronic health issues, and she performs pre-surgical psychological evaluations to identify potential psychological risk factors prior to surgical intervention. In addition, she is involved in the Boost Rehab Clinic, a functional restoration program for individuals with chronic pain and medical problems, as the psychologist who works with the individuals enrolled in the four-week program to identify, assess, and treat potential psychological and behavioral issues that may complicate successful efforts to return to work. As a certified life care planner, Dr. Allison is familiar with the various trajectories of recovery and avenues of returning to work, and she integrates this information during treatment and when making recommendations.
As a supplement to her clinical work, Dr. Allison is actively involved in research. She has published research in several peer-reviewed journals, has presented research at conferences nation-wide, and has authored several chapters.
