Joanna McCraney, PhD
Joanna McCraney, PhD, received her doctorate from University of Southern Mississippi with a specialty in neuropsychology in 2000. Her internship training was in rehabilitation, typically head injury, also M.S. and Parkinson’s. It also included memory evaluation for outpatient geriatric and head injury population, and evaluations at a gero-psycho inpatient unit, in which she obtained additional specialized training. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship through Pine Grove Recovery Center at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS in child and adolescent psychology, which was primarily in- and out-patient psychological evaluations. She is an expert witness for the State of Mississippi and has participated in the involuntary commitment covering a three county area in South Mississippi, and participated as the State’s witness in the weekly commitment trials. She was on staff at the Biloxi Veterans Administration and also a medical-consultant for the VA in MS, FL, and AL for nine years. She was the Program Director for psychology services at South MS State Hospital in Purvis, MS, which is an acute/subacute 50 bed state psychiatric hospital.
