Kirsten W. Schwehm, PhD, ABN
Kirsten W. Schwehm, PhD, ABN, is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist – she has been in licensed clinical practice since 1995. She earned her PhD in Clinical (Medical) Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and she is currently licensed to practice psychology in Louisiana and Mississippi. Dr. Schwehm offers cognitive-behavioral, empirically-based approaches to the treatment of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, marital difficulties, and adjustment to chronic pain and medical diagnoses. She works with adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients. Assessment services include neuropsychological assessment of cognitive complaints related to head injury, suspected dementia, stroke, and the impact of medical issues; evaluation of ADHD and learning disabilities; psychological diagnosis and treatment recommendations; mental health factors in symptom presentation; adjustment to chronic pain; and psychological risk factors for medical procedure outcome.
In addition to providing neuropsychological assessment and psychological treatment in the Baton Rouge office of Jefferson Neurobehavioral Group, Dr. Schwehm works as an adjunct faculty member with the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, in the Institute for Dementia Research and Prevention. She is on the National Register of Health Services Providers in Psychology, she is a Fellow of the American College of Professional Neuropsychology, and she holds the Certificate of Professional Qualification (CPQ) in Psychology. Before joining Jefferson Neurobehavioral Group in 2008, Dr. Schwehm held clinical and administrative appointments with the LSU Health Sciences Center, Louisiana State University (as the University Ombudsperson), the Mississippi State Hospital, North Mississippi Medical Center, and the VA Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
