Aaron Wolfson, PhD
Dr. Aaron Wolfson is a native of New Orleans. He received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, and completed pre- and postdoctoral training in rehabilitation psychology from the University Of Washington School Of Medicine in Seattle. He specializes in the assessment and treatment of adults who are coping with a variety of medical and physical problems including: chronic pain, spinal cord injury, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, severe burns, or other life-altering issues. Dr. Wolfson works with adults coping with chronic pain and physical challenges. He receives referrals from physicians, attorneys, worker’s compensation adjusters and case managers, vocational rehabilitation specialists, and other mental health professionals. In addition to providing group and individual psychotherapy, Dr. Wolfson routinely provides pre-surgical psychological evaluations for patients considering spinal surgery, implantable devices to treat pain, and weight loss surgery. These assessments of potential psychosocial and psychological risk factors help treating physicians identify “at-risk” patients, and help remediate issues prior to surgery. Dr. Wolfson likewise evaluates injured workers to assess potential psychological and behavioral issues that may complicate successful efforts to return to work. As a licensed vocational rehabilitation counselor and life care planner, Dr. Wolfson integrates knowledge of the world of work to inform psychological recommendations.
Since 2014, Dr. Wolfson has served as the Clinical Director of Boost Rehab Clinic, a functional restoration program for individuals with chronic pain and medical problems. He oversees a treatment team consisting of psychologists, physical therapists, job placement specialists, and nutritionists who help injured individuals complete Boost’s four-week comprehensive, multi-disciplinary treatment program. Dr. Wolfson has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, has presented his research at several national professional conferences, and is licensed psychologist in Louisiana
